Sweden's National Day
The tradition of celebrating this day started in 1916 at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium, to commemorate the election of King Gustav Vasa on 6 June 1523, which was seen as the foundation of modern Sweden.
Before 1983, the day was observed solely as the Swedish Flag Day (Swedish: Svenska flaggans dag). It was officially designated as the Swedish National Day by the parliament of Sweden in 1983 and became a public holiday in 2005.
We will gather to celebrate Swedish National Day in style, enjoying the finest offerings of Swedish summer cuisine.
